A four-year £1.65bn framework that will deliver 10,000 new homes across Scotland has been launched.

A total of £1.5bn has been allocated for the new homes, with projects under the House Building Framework divided into three lots: 50-plus units, 16-49 units, and 15 units and under. Companies can also tender to cover parts of the lots.

An additional £150m will cover consultancy work on the developments, including site surveys, design work, contract and project management, and architectural work.

Public sector body the Scottish Procurement Alliance has set a submission deadline for tenders of 19 December, with the framework expected to go live in February next year.

The 10,000 planned homes form part of the Scottish Government’s target of delivering 50,000 homes over the next four years, with 35,000 of those classed as affordable housing.

SPA chief officer Clive Feeney said: “We have worked hard with our partners to develop this framework to deliver on the Scottish Government’s ambitious target of building 50,000 new homes by 2021.

“The framework will aim to address many of the challenges developing authorities will face and will offer housebuilders and consultants the opportunity to work with social landlords across Scotland over the next four years.”

Last week Glasgow City Council approved a separate £600m plan to develop almost 10,000 houses in the city over the next five years.
