Homes for Scotland

Homes for Scotland is THE voice of the home building industry in Scotland, representing some 200 companies and organisations which together deliver 95% of new homes built for sale each year and a significant proportion of affordable housing.

We are committed to improving the quality of living in Scotland by providing this and future generations of Scots with warm, energy-efficient, sustainable homes in places people WANT to live.

Our aim is to foster the conditions necessary to enable the home building industry to prosper and make a significant contribution to Scotland's social, economic and environmental well-being.

BUT, with housing production having slumped by 40% since 2007, the scale of this challenge is huge.  This is starkly demonstrated by the fact that only 16,000 new homes were built in 2015, some 54% less than the 35,000 new homes the Scottish Government wished to see being delivered by this time in order to meet housing demand and tackle house price inflation.

Action Sustainability

We are global thought leaders, consultants, software developers and service providers in sustainable business and supply chain management. Our mission is to “Inspire sustainable business”.

  • We inspire – through our social enterprise company we push the boundaries of best practice by setting new standards, researching and disseminating new knowledge
  • We lead – we lead collaborative groups of businesses to develop the capacity of their supply chains, like our award winning Supply Chain School
  • We advise – we work with organisations who aspire to best practice, we are the advisers of choice for many clients around the world
  • We train – we offer a range of training options from traditional classroom training to e-learning and other web based solutions
  • We measure – our innovative software package enables organisations to manage the sustainability performance of our clients’ supply chains. Unlike the numerous rating tools on the market, this package measures performance not practice
  • We verify – we evaluate sustainability in businesses, in buildings and in supply chains using leading international and national standards

Our aim is to extend the boundaries of best practice in sustainability by working with leading international clients who are recognised by their peers as leaders in their class. For example in 2012 Skanska was named Green Company of the year by The Sunday Times and both Molson Coors and United Utilities have been named as sector leaders on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. We are happy to have helped these and all our clients on their sustainability journey.
