Director - 3D Reid
I have over twenty years’ experience as a practicing architect and development professional in the United Kingdom. Throughout my career, I have focused on design, strategic development and client delivery. Capable and experienced in managing a busy practice, I have delivered complex planning solutions for a number of executive clients worldwide in the residential, hotel, corporate banking and conservation sectors.
Having worked at director level in property development, a dedication to delivering value through design excellence underlies my approach: well-considered and imaginative solutions partnered with meticulous management. My collaborative approach to managing residential projects involving a complex mix of retention, new-build, interior and refurbished elements has demonstrably added major value to clients.
I have been involved in conservation for the whole of my career and have established a reputation for imaginative intervention, for sensitivity to the unique disciplines of the fabric and grain of the city coupled with a realistic, commercial and successful approach to conservation. Project types include the restoration of category A listed buildings, the incorporation of listed buildings into new commercial developments, the incorporation of new developments into the setting of category A listed country estates and most recently the protection and renovation of listed facades, all delivered using meticulous conservation management based upon ICOMOS guidelines.
During my time in architecture, I have developed skills in visual communication and project delivery that underpin a parallel development of my artistic practice, successfully funding personal projects through Creative Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund. I am also founding director of prominent arts commissioning consultancy North Light Arts, successfully funding a series of extensive visual arts programs while working to support emergent and established artists in Scotland.
