Regional Director for Scotland - IDOM Consulting, Engineering and Architecture UK
I play a key role in the development and management of the IDOM business in the UK and leads a team of professional engineers from the Scottish office in Stirling.
I started my career in local authority as a trainee civil engineering technician and advanced through my HNC, a range of Vocational Qualifications and a Modern Apprenticeship. I’m particularly proud to have been the first woman in Scotland to complete a modern apprenticeship in Civil Engineering.
With extensive experience in highway design and maintenance, industrial engineering, building restoration, commercial housing, renewable energy and infrastructure, I have developed my skills in both project and construction management. I’ve worked at all stages of a wide variety of projects, from conception, feasibility, basic design, detailed design, through to construction management and site supervision.
I lead my team to deliver a wide and diverse range of projects to clients within various industries and sectors both within the UK and around the world.
“I’ve never felt held back as a woman in construction. I’ve had the support and appreciation of many people in the industry (both men and women) and I have thrived with this support. If we can provide this kind of unconditional support to young people and encourage them to join us in the sector then by default we will promote inclusivity and diversity.
The construction industry needs more GOOD people. I’m proud to be a woman in construction and what I have achieved but mostly I’m proud to stand alongside my peers and be good at my job.
Through Scotland Build we can encourage more people to join the construction industry so we can support them to not only be good at what they choose but also to enjoy the route they have taken.”
