Sector Manager – Construction
John Renwick is the Sector Manager for Construction for Scotland’s colleges. Energy Skills Partnership which was established in 2011 to provide the link between industry, government and its agencies and Scotland’s colleges whilst supporting colleges in the development and delivery of programmes to meet the energy and construction sector’s skills needs.
Prior to this John was the Assistant Head of School of Engineering & Sustainable Technologies at Carnegie College, he has 17 years’ experience within the further education sector and has vast experience in the construction industry. John was also responsible for setting up Carnegie College’s Sustainable Technology Centre.
His previous experience also included a secondment with Napier University as a Knowledge Exchange Business Development Advisor. This project involved working with SME’s to drive forward their innovative ideas and bring them into reality.
John was also an associated Director for Fife Construction Forum. This established to support the construction industry in Fife and to promote links between contractors, clients and support agencies. The forum’s aims was to ensure local companies benefited from the opportunities within Fife.
John also participated in an Advantage Austrian Visit in November 2012. This project was supported by the Austrian Trade Commission and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The purpose was to meet organisations involved with the Passive House Standards and to address energy efficiency within the curriculum.
Furthermore, he also represents further educational skills on Scottish Building Information Modelling Academia Group. The Scottish BIM Delivery Group (BIM DG) has the remit – to lead, manage, coordinate and deliver the BIM implementation plan on a day to day basis for Scotland.
