Managing Director - Architype
As Managing Director of Architype, one of the UK’s leading sustainable architects, Jonathan is driven by a burning desire to create, innovate and challenge convention in order make great design that has a positive long-term impact on its local community, and the planet. He is passionate about eliminating the performance gap in buildings, and this has led to Architype’s position at the forefront of building performance evaluation and monitoring in the UK, and its adoption of Passivhaus.
Architype has pioneered Passivhaus in the UK, through a wide range of successful large scale projects which have been completed and monitored over several years – including many Passivhaus schools, a multi-award winning Passivhaus Office Enterprise Centre for the University of East Anglia, an archive centre for Herefordshire Council, and a variety of housing projects.
Architype is currently on site with the UK’s first Passivhaus Secondary school, a Passivhaus archive repository for the Imperial War Museum, a Passivhaus extra care scheme for older people, and one of the largest residential Passivhaus projects in the UK.
Architype works on projects throughout the UK from its offices in London, Edinburgh and Hereford.
Jonathan is also a Board member of the UK Passivhaus Trust which promotes Passivhaus around the UK, and chair of the Passivhaus Trust in Scotland.
