Facades Manager - Kingspan Facades
I have worked in the construction industry for around 5 years now, working in different roles from distribution to manufacturers of roofing and cladding products. My career started in Field Sales, however I quickly realised the construction industry was for me. I love that every day is different, working all over the country speaking to many different people.
My current role involves working with architects, surveyors, main contractors and sub contractors. We assist these customers in designing projects which are aesthetically pleasing and also meet their performance requirements. Having the chance to see these projects through from concept to completion is one of the best parts of my role. I spend most of my free time with my daughter, go to the gym and compete in showjumping. The occasional evening out with work or friends is always a bonus!
“As a woman working in the construction industry, you are faced with many challenges. It is fantastic to be a part of a movement which promotes women in construction and sends the message that we are valued members of this industry. There are so many benefits to working in construction, and women are starting to earn some fantastic senior positions in their fields. Attitudes are changing, and I would encourage any woman looking for a fun, exciting and challenging career to get involved in construction.
I have a young daughter who thinks her Mummy is the coolest working on building sites. As we drive around I can show her the buildings I have helped design and she is so happy to tell others about what I do. I want to be a role model for my daughter to show that she can do anything she puts her mind to – whether that be a doctor, a teacher, sales person or an engineer.”
