Director of Marketing - Edinburgh University Women in Business
Coming from Saint Petersburg – one of the most beautiful and historical cities in Russia and whole Europe – I was always interested in the career in Architecture and Urban Design. My dream led me all the way to Scotland, where I am currently undertaking a final year in the MA Hons Architecture programm in the University of Edinburgh. Alongside my everyday studies, I have been involved with Edinburgh University Women in Business society for 3 years now, as Director of Web Development for 2 years and a Director of Marketing for 1 year. In EUWIB we are interested in helping female students understand and consider various career paths they can persue by offering them a chance to get introduced to a number of successful women from different backgrounds to get inspired for the future. One of the key organisations we have been in touch with is Women in Property. Since I was nominated for their Award Scheme in 2018, I maintained a good relationship with their committee and we are planning a panel event with them in the following academic year. I believe they are doing a great job in addressing current challenges in the industry and in promoting related career opportunities for women. It is important for girls to see what a great opportunities can career in construction bring and that is why I am so passionately support organisations that help to raise the awareness about diversity and equality in this professional field.
“There are many smart, inspiring and enthusiastic women amongst us and I believe it is important to accommodate their abilities and talents in one of the most important industries in the world – construction industry. It is important that we motivate women and show them what benefits can a career in engineering, architecture or any other related field bring. I believe we need to treat everyone as equals, no matter of their gender or social background, as this way we will not miss out on someone who may contribute to the industry and positively change its future.”
