Ronnie T. Hunter is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 40 years of experience as a consultant engineer principally in the roads sector in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. He is a member of ICE’s Council, the Institution’s governing body, and past Chair of ICE Scotland.
His career encompasses roles as Group Performance Director of the Scott Wilson Group and Chief Executive for Scotland & Ireland Division – a consultancy specialising in transportation with a turnover of c£30m and 500 staff members – as well as Chairman of Malone O’Regan Scott Wilson Ltd. A graduate of Glasgow University, his early experience is in Highway Planning, Roads Design and Contract Supervision on Trunk Roads in the Glasgow Area and overseas.
He has considerable experience of directing multi-disciplinary teams on roads projects encompassing a wide range of environments, scheme magnitudes, procedural and technical complexity and financial/contractual formats. He was responsible for developing the firms Design & Build and DBFO capability in Scotland principally serving Transport Scotland and major Contractors. In 1998 he took the business into Northern Ireland and developed a key trunk road capability for Roads Service, NI. He also developed the firm’s capability in Value Engineering and Risk Management.
He is a former member of the ICE Transport Board and was an adviser to a UN Committee developing a Model Law for Private Finance. He is also a member of ICE Scotland’s Public Voice Committee. Since 2011 most of his time has been devoted to professional interests.
