With a background as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Tom has gone on to develop a career in senior management in the field of affordable housing.
From extensive roles in affordable housing project management in Glasgow and Ayrshire, Tom completed a MBA and diversified into client services management including homelessness facilities. Tom subsequently led housing and related services in an Ayrshire based Registered Social Landlord before in 2005 taking over as Chief Executive Officer of Clyde Valley Group (CVG), based in Lanarkshire, where it remains one of the largest affordable housing developers in the country.
There Tom focused on significant aspects of organisational development and change management, with the business reaching No.5 on the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies in the UK to Work For. Tom has also led CVG to achieve Best Companies 3 Star Status in the ‘Michelin style’ elite star rating system for organisations that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement.
Tom fulfils a number of roles with RICS including past RICS Scotland Chairman; Scotland representative on RICS Global Board, Governing Council; RICS Scotland media spokesperson on social housing and he currently Co-Chairs the Scottish Governments Joint Housing Policy and Delivery Group, reporting to COSLA and Ministers.
